Moonlight Nights

It’s official!! We’ve bought our tickets to Burning Man 2009 which means we have some extra planning to do for September’s event. As of today about 7 people are confirmed for our Black Rock desert full moon party, coming from NYC, Montreal, and San Francisco, but we expect this number to grow in the next few months as we rally full mooners to join the Moonlight Nights camp. Or should we call it the Noo Camp? Or the Full Mooners Camp? Anyways…

We’re still undecided if we’ll simultaneously do something in New York but it’s very possible. Killer K wonders if she’ll be able to withstand a week without a shower and is thinking of staying behind but we can’t have that happen. Obviously we need to send her to a full moon art boot camp for some re-training to be real killer. Otherwise we’re taking her name back and she can just be plain old “K”.

Our May event went of without a hitch! Not only did people bring white t-shirts to become canvases for the night for local artists but all the extra shirts we brought were sold too! Zee and Phil teamed up again to put on a show roaming around the bar while people kept asking me “do I just go up to them?”. I felt like it was a zoo and that Zee and Phil were some sort of strange creatures. But once they got the ball rolling all I saw was people lining up for their work. By the end they were exhausted!

Chris and John showed how experienced they are in working together and made our night with the mural they painted. Guys, your masterpiece of the night is now hanging in my studio and I wake up every morning to the coolest and happiest full moon ever Thank yoooou!!! You will definitely see your mural again when we find a venue to exhibit the collections from each party towards the end of the year.

Thanks to everyone that came out and made this event bigger and better than the last. Shit we’ve got four weeks to figure out how we’re going to top it! Special thanks to Chris, Nicole and Pez too from 40c who were super accommodating and so easy to work with in every aspect of the event.

The white sea of canvases

Thanks to everyone who made it out last night to Gallery Bar for a great art party. The turnout was way better than expected! Two giant collaborative masterpieces were created by many of you who put your thoughts on canvas. Hopefully we’ll be able to exhibit the artwork at a later event. View the photos.

Special thanks to Zartosht, Brian, Phil, Piotr and Elizabeth and all the artists and photographers in the house that we may not have had a chance to meet. Without you we wouldn’t have even had a party! If you have any photos please, please, please send them to us.

Several people  we spoke with last night had suggestions of parties to throw and expressed interest in getting involved. We’re open to any kind of creative collaboration so if you want to be a part of one of our future full moon parties or just want to say hi don’t be scared to reach out at events (at) moonlightnights.org.
